This TV has a great picture, and was a very good value for the price. The sound is not that great like most flat screens, but hooked to a 300 watt sound bar with subwoofer makes it look and sound like a small movie theatre!

Fantastic Value!

I‘ve owned this tv for over six years now. It has a fantastic picture that hasn‘t faded at all in all this time. The built in speakers are no great shakes, but they never are. The best feature of this tv is it‘s connection options. Just about every type of past connection is supported, in addition to three, count‘em three, HDMI ports. If you have some older A/V equipment you still use, this is the TV for you.

Excellent picture but...

I love this brand, this is my third purchase, not because of a fault with the TV, but up-sizing or another brand needs replacing. Be warned though, as good as the TV is and the picture quality is phenomenal, the screws they provide, and they don't provide enough to attach the base to the TV are very poor quality. I had a Vizio that I was replacing because it was developing a dark band across the middle of the screen that was making me think I was developing a brain tumor! It was subtle but very irritating. I used the screws on my Vizio on this TV and that solved the problem but it would have been bad had I not had the other screws. I needed 8 and only got 4 and the 4 were worse than bad. I don't have a problem with the sound, but it could just be me.

Excellent for the price

For $200, this TV is hard to beat. Out of the box, it takes some tweaking with the brightness, contrast, color controls and picture aspect ratio to get it to look its best, but once done the picture is excellent. I'm a little worried about longevity, given some of the reviews, but in the 2 weeks I've had it I couldn't ask for a better TV for the price. Even the onboard speakers are adequate if you're just using this to watch TV shows and news. The sound is full and not tinny. The stand is a bit confusing to assemble with the instructions given, but ultimately no big deal. Inputs are plentiful with a digital/analog coax input, 3 HDMI inputs, a USB port for picture viewing or playing MP3s, and a VGA (D-Sub) input to hook up a PC and use it as a monitor. Again, for the price I am very impressed. I just hope it lasts.

BEST $200 I spent in a long time

I am 58 yr old Female with disability of both shoulders. There was no problem getting the TV set up. Slow and steady is the best advice. The color is a bit weird. There are so many choices so it is up to you to watch and see what works best. The GREAT SIZE and OK sound is more than any person or family could ask for in a modern, 40 inch TV. I hooked up my XBOX and can view Netflix or other programs without having to spend extra for a smart TV. I will also use this TV with my desktop or laptop computers. Great VALUE!!

TV for Mom

I purchased this tv as a replacement my 89 year-old mother's set that went out on her. She likes it a lot. She comments that the picture is bright and that the sound is good. She is satisfied, and so I am satisfied. The only complaint is the delivery time took 2 days longer than was promised.

New to me!!

Sceptre brand is new to me. Took the chance because of the price and so far so good. Had cable already installed and the setup for this TV was simple!! The picture is bright and clear and sharp and the sound is absolutely fine for me, not a 'tinny' sound at all. I am well pleased and hope to have this TV for a long, long time. Got the 3 yr. warranty plan to make sure that I will have it for at least 3 years. I have only had the TV for 2 weeks now and am anticipating good results for a long time.

Great TV for price!

I was really worried about this TV not being good quality but I was wrong. It has great picture and sound! Works well with my Xbox 1 S and has all the needed inputs for hdmi laptop and sound system. Great purchase for a great price. Wonderful TV if your not interested in paying an extra $200 for a smart TV.

Q:The video card driver is not up to date, how can I fix this? ?
A:

  1. Find out what card you have by going into the Display Settings of your Operating System.  You will be able to see your video card name.
  2. Most video cards are from two companies, nVidia and AMD (formally ATI). You will need to download the latest driver to update your card. Here are the links:

    • nVidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

    • AMD (formally ATI):  http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx

    • Note: If your video card is not from nVidia, please search for the card on Google (www.google.com) or  visit www.sceptre.com for additional technical support and Live Chat with Customer Tech Support.

  3. Download the newest driver and remove the old driver from the system.  You will also need to remove the plug and play detected monitor driver.
  4. Reboot your computer and install the newest video card driver.
  5. You will need to reboot an additional time (reboot twice) for the system to detect the monitor, then you can adjust the monitor resolution.
